A metal mind map of casted captivity.
This Bronze sculpture reminiscent of moment I felt the world stop. As one chapter of my life closed and I draped my graduation garments on and was ready to leave high school behind. I was ready to open the door to college but the door didn’t open. Covid had locked that door until further notice. As I sat in my class some time later I began to unpack what that felt that in 2020 and being trapped. I thought of a bird who wanted to jump the nest and begin their journey of independence and survival. Over the course of a whole semester I produced this single piece. Cage Head is more than formed metal, it’s a monolith of memory that set the stage of how I came to be an adult.
